EMERGENCE OF THE FASHION PSYCHOLOGY FIELD®

This course explores fundamental questions about the origins of the art of dressing by looking at how the concept of Fashion Psychology has emerged. Examines the 19th-century illumination of Fashion Psychology and how it was unknowingly interwoven through the fabrics of the 20th century. We ask whether fashion requires the onlooker to view thru an idiosyncratic lens or a collectivistic lens. Seeks to explain why the Fashion Psychology Field is needed in today's 21st Century.

A SOLUTION TO THE COMMONLY FELT ADAGE "I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR".

We have all uttered the common adage "I have nothing to wear" while looking at a closet full of clothing. You probably have pulled out half of your wardrobe and tried on several different looks. You look into the mirror at your reflection feeling defeated. You finally relent dressing in the last items you tossed to the side. You go about your day with an underlying feeling of dissatisfaction. This course will introduce the fashion psychological solution to the common adage "I have nothing to wear".

HOW TO PERFECT THE ART OF THE WORK UNIFORM

Your closet looks comprise of two dozen identical white shirts all in a row.

You begin to notice that you are wearing a uniform to the office, especially when you  ordered three of the same suit in the same fabric and a score of white oxford shirts with button-down collars. Your uniform, would free you from the daily anxiety of standing in front of my closet wondering, “Does this match?” or “Am I wearing this sweater too often?” This course will delve into the art of the work uniform.

THE START UP GUY

There is developing shift in the fashion wants of entrepreneurial men, who are looking to “graduate” from the typical hoodie-and-jeans look that is associated with startup guys.

The startup guy look will add a physical element of allure or “beauty,” to compliment the entrepreneur's brains. This course will explore this plus the minimalist look of Steve Jobs to the dapperness of Elon Musk to the no-frills hoodies of Mark Zuckerberg.

THE NAZI HAIRCUT

When the sides of the hair are closely shaved to the scalp leaving the hair on the top left longer this is referred to as the "undercut". The undercut has been seen on a host of celebrities heads from White Supremacist Richard Spencer to Rapper Macklemore. Is this an ode to Adolf Hitler or a style du jour?
